Messed Up Again (#55)

Are you tired of blaming yourself for being inconsistent?

Picture this. You’ve been trying to get into a routine that will energize you and also allow you to get everything done. You want to be on top of your game, follow through with your commitments AND feel refreshed.

It all sounds so simple, and after struggling to get your act together for SO LONG you’ve finally decided that this is the day it happens. No more floundering around or being thrown off. You may have even reached out to someone and received some awesome support in allowing this to happen. And then it all comes crashing down AGAIN.

Despite your good intentions, a car trip that normally takes 10 minutes takes 30. You feel the FRUSTRATION building within; you’re going to be late for an appointment. It’s unbelievable! You try to become centered but just can’t. The frustration continues to build.

But WAIT

Before you get down on yourself again, read on to see how to benefit from this apparent mess.

I’m guessing that you can relate to this experience since you’re still with me. When it becomes certain that things won’t turn out as planned, you realize that there’s nothing you can do about this particular situation; it just is.

At this point something snaps inside you; the building frustration suddenly releases and your energy shifts. In the past, maybe you thought you were giving up, or giving in, and it started a chain reaction of old programming in your head: the self-talk of blaming yourself. Why can’t I get my act together?

You do have another choice though…you could view the whole experience as a way of surrendering to ‘the flow’ and being willing to extract the gift available from the experience. That gift can benefit you and perhaps others (who wouldn’t want a gift?). That’s what I did today when I wrote this post.

Once I got beyond the muttering and the wells of desperation…yes and after I cranked the music up high, I asked the following questions:

  • Will life as we know it continue and is the earth still spinning? (the answer was yes; it calmed me down a bit)
  • How is this situation presenting an opportunity for me?
  • What are some ways I can process this situation and the associated feelings?
  • What’s an easy way for me to pass this gift on?
  • For my particular experience, I realized there were a couple of things I could rearrange in my schedule, so that I’d be more organized. I also realized that it was an opportunity to practice going within and being in an inner state of peace despite the apparent chaos outside. And thirdly, I figured it was a good chance to share these insights.

There is a benefit in each mess, if you look for it. So learn, grow and pass on each gift.

Until next time,

Live Deeply,TM

  1. Thanks for that message. Just 15 minutes ago my boyfriend was reminding me that I have made progress and it’s a process. Yes I know that, but I’m not consistent…..then here I am reading your post. Timely…..love that…..Grateful for the Universe reminding me…yet again.

    • Thanks so much for your comments Trish…sometimes we need to hear things a few times for them to sink in. Have a wonderful day!
